What's in MY drink?!

I remembered a story that makes even my cockroach tea sound good to me. Some of you may have heard my story but to those that missed out. I told the class about a man who drowned in a city's water supply! Yuck, "dead body" water...yummy? Yuck! Although chlorine was pumped in, I think it doesn't make it better.

CORPSE THREATENS MANILA WATER SUPPLY

Health and sanitation workers rushed to remove the remains of a man who drowned after falling into a Philippine water system, fearing the corpse could contaminate drinking water pumped to several suburban areas near Manila. Work was underway to retrieve the body and authorities assures the public that drinking water remained safe. They have isolated the pipeline from the whole network of Manila Water. It was a big loss but but couldn't risk pumping the water with a corpse to the people who are using the water.

As precaution, additional chlorine was added to the water. Who got stuck in the pipes? A 19-year-old man was picking fruit from trees around a Manila Water Co. facility in suburban Quezon city, when he fell into an aqueduct (drain) and drowned. His body was then swept away by a current into a main canal where it got stuck. Manila Water said it planned to flush out the body. Manila Water currently services the eastern portion of Metropolitan Manila covering several cities and municipalities, including the financial district of Makati and Quezon.

A similar case happened here in Malaysia, it involved a local soft drink maker and a worker believed to be foreign. This worker was cleaning out a tank where they made the drinks fell inside and then drowned. The rest of the workers were unaware then used the tank contents to bottle soft drinks... with the man inside...talk about Eeeeew..... but this could be just an urban legend.

So cheers and drink up!
