Oh now! KAPOW...no more Pau!

Shanghai authorities have seized more than 6,000 steamed buns and the Chinese city’s mayor has ordered a probe after they were found to have been dyed, expired or filled with unidentified chemicals. Oh No....not again...

The allegations are the latest in a string of food safety scares to rattle consumers in China, which was rocked three years ago by a tainted milk scandal that left at least six infants dead and sickened 300,000. Yes, I remember this.

Mayor Han Zheng said in a statement issued late yesterday that anyone found guilty of tampering with the popular Chinese snack would be prosecuted and pledged that the investigation results would be released to the public.

How can a country do such a thing to its people.... ridiculous!

These steamed buns are really good. The best ones are found in Hong Kong but are available throughout the world, where there is good Dim Sum House. To think I just had a "pau" yesterday.

IS THERE LIFE OUT THERE?

Many students have asked me about the possibilty of life existing in other planets or worlds and my answer is yes. Recent news paper article claimed that scientists say there is increased belief in the possibility of discovering alien life, following revelations that 50% of stars throughout the universe have planets similar to Earth orbiting them.

(view from the ISS or International Space Station)

How cool is that? But then again, would the aliens be friendly? Professor Stephen Hawking believes that that aliens might simply raid Earth for its resources and then move on: “We only have to look at ourselves to see how intelligent life might develop into something we wouldn’t want to meet. I imagine they might exist in massive ships, having used up all the resources from their home planet. Such advanced aliens would perhaps become nomads, looking to conquer and colonise whatever planets they can reach.”

Can you believe this guy then? He claims to have knowledge on the UFOs and aliens. Like what I was saying in class, the US government knows but doesn't tell. 'I believe in UFOs - and I've seen them', says ex-Canadian defence minister Paul Hellyer - Daily Mail - Feb 25, 2011, He goes on to add that UFOs are real, aliens have visited Earth and the US government is covering up information about them.'

Conclusion? It is a possibilty that life exist outside our own solar system. Will they be friendly, let's wait and find out.

THE REASON I TEACH

This is one of the many tributes I have received over the years as a teacher. It keeps me motivated to do what I do. We hold the keys to the success of the children and I am glad I am a teacher.

Today, I was named "BEST TEACHER" again, this time for the month of October. Three times in a row makes it even more wonderful. It has made me realise that I have an impact on the students.

Thank you, those who voted. Thanks Joey for the wonderful tribute.

GOT BITTEN BY A DOG

Goldie is a stray dog that wondered into our neighbourhood a week ago. The poor critter was either beaten or run over by a car, I don't know which. What I did know that it was in pain, it needed help. My mum had spotted the golden brown colour dog limping around last Tuesday and had asked my sister and I to feed it. At first we didn't want to do it but mum was adamant and we gave in.

The dog given the name Goldie by my mum, she had a broken leg with the bone sticking out of her left leg. She seemed to be responding fine to my "special cocktail" of antibiotics and pain killlers in milk. I have experience dealing with dogs so treating Goldie was no different so I thought. I had just finished Friday class and came home to find Goldie hungry.

I was hungry too but I made a trip to the local hypermarket to buy some roast chicken for the dog. I came back and fed it together with milk and other stuff. After she had finished her meal, she laid down on her side. I used this opportunity to try to set the bone back into the body. Bad idea? It must have hurt and she tried to bite me. I pulled my had away but it wasn't fast enough.

I had teeth pierce my finger and graze the sides of some fingers. OUCH! I should have gotten shots for Rabies and Tetanus but I didn't. I am okay.... I guess.

Take care! Love all animals!
