Dinosaur footprints found!

I am facinated by dinosaurs and when I read this news, I knew that I would blog about it. I think every kid dreams about meeting or discovering dinosaurs. I am no different, except maybe I'm an adult. So here's the story about the latest in dinosaurs.

In New Zealand geologists there have uncovered, what would be the first evidence that dinosaurs once roamed New Zealand over seventy million years ago. These footprints represent the first evidence ever of dinosaurs on South Island. Imagine that?

Footprints of dinosaurs were discovered in northwestern part of Nelson, a region at the northern end of South Island. In an area of about ten kilometers (six miles) in length comprise where the footprints were found. Six specific locations within the area hold the footprints.Sauropod

About twenty footprints were discovered in one particular soft sandstone location. The largest ones measure about 60 centimeters (two feet) in diameter! The footprints are believed to have belonged to sauropods - plant-eating dinosaurs which were among the largest animals to have lived, growing up to six metres in length and weighing several tonnes.

I wonder if there were any dinosaurs in Malaysia?
Wouldn't that be cool! What would you call the dinosaur if it were discovered? Teh-tarikosaurus, rotichanaisaurus, or Malaysiano-saurus? Maybe Onemalaysia-saur, M-Rex or Rojakosaurus? LOL. Use your imagination draw a picture of it, write your name and CL No., bring it to me.

It would be great fun!

Mysterious Nazca Lines

Left behind by an ancient civilization, these lines feature hundreds of individual figures, ranging in complexity from simple lines to stylized hummingbirds, spiders, monkeys, fish, sharks or orcas, llamas, and lizards.

How they were made
The lines are shallow designs in the ground where the reddish pebbles that cover the surrounding landscape have been removed, revealing the whitish earth underneath. Hundreds are simple lines or geometric shapes, and more than seventy are natural or human figures. The largest are over 200 metres (660 ft) across. The mysterious part is that these lines could only be seen from the air but airplanes weren't invented yet!

What were they for?
Scientist have long argued over what the lines were for but generally connect them to religious significance. "The geometric ones could indicate the flow of water or be connected to rituals to summon water. The spiders, birds, and plants could be fertility symbols. Other possible explanations include: irrigation schemes or giant astronomical calendars.

Disappeared
What happened to the people who made these lines? Now new evidence has been uncovered that might give a clue to this. The ancient South American Nazca civilization may have caused its own demise by clear-cutting huge swaths of forest, a new study has found. The civilization disappeared mysteriously around 1,500 years ago, after apparently prospering during the first half of the first millennium A.D. in the valleys of south coastal Peru.

Moral: Don't chop the trees. Deforestation can cause disasters to happen, like what is happening now. Global warming and climate change are causing havoc to our Earth.

Think about it!

Quakes and Quirks of fried chicken

Having felt an earthquake before, a small tremor, I wouldn't want to be in places where the people receive full impact of the quakes. My experience was not scary but surreal in a sense my brain was telling me something and I was feeling something else. I know my house is solid but my senses of touch and feeling was telling me that I was like sitting on a big piece of jelly.

Speaking of surreal, I had two experiences involving every ones favourite fried chicken restaurant chain. During the recent Hari Raya, my students Crab, Prawn and I were in BJ Complex for looking for food. We settled on the obvious choice, somewhere we all can agree too. So there we were enjoying our meal of chicken rice when I found a hair in my soup. Least to say they were shocked.

I called for the manager who apologised profusely and offered to bring me another new soup. By now both Crab and Prawn were laughing real hard. Prawn joked that I might find another hair in the new soup. I was in no mood for another tasty delicious hair soup, I declined. We continued with our lunch. Just as we were about to leave the manager came back, and with a smile, she plopped a box of fried chicken on the table. Smilling ever so sweetly, she said sorry, again.

The next experience wasn't so nice, I had went to the restaurant too buy some fried chicken and found myself shortchanged and without a receipt. Only when I threatened to see the manager, that I managed to get back my correct changed. Earlier when I was queuing, I saw the staff say goodbye to him. This leads me to suspect, it is their tactic to pull this game whenever the boss is not around.

Hey, it was not about the few ringgit but more of the Principal. Imagine taking just one ringgit from a hundred customers everyday!

Anyway, I can't believe Deepavali is here and my birthday is just a week a way! I wonder how old I'll be this year. Last year I was 18! LOL.

See you all in class!

GHOST BEATS BOY

It seems that old England is a place for spooks to be and they're not shy to let you know they're there. Heck! They'll even beat you up for it. The boy said he did not see anyone throughout the whole thing but said it sounded like a man because of the heavy breathing.

That's what happen to a 13-year-old boy, who had finished school and was alone in their home in York Road, Hartlepool. He claims he was suddenly pulled upright, dragged across the living room, taken to the front door and thrown out into the street. His attack lasted for five minutes before the startled youngster fled to a neighbour's house.

His mother turned to the church after the attack where he was left bruised and bewildered by what his family say could only have been a ghost or poltergeist.
